A Baker's Dozen of Audiobooks You Should Buy Right Now

By Aaron Sharp | May 15, 2020

It’s June.

That means it’s hot in Texas, we’re celebrating the birthdays of the Slugger (just turned 3) and the Wonder Woman (just turned a multiple of three), and it is time for christianaudio.com’s twice-yearly sale. Sure, we could write a post about why you should rush out and buy the audiobook version of You Got This, Dad with fantastic narration by Kirby Heyborne for only $7.49, but that would be a shameless plug, and we are above that, or maybe we’re not. Instead, we are creating a whole post listing other books you would do well to purchase while they are on sale. If, while you are perusing the fine selection on chrsistianaudio.com you feel compelled to purchase the audiobook of You Got This, Dad, well, that is up to you. (But you know you want to).

First, a disclaimer: the books in this list are all books we’ve read, or that were authored by people we know personally. There are literally dozens of good books out there that we just haven’t gotten to. If you are wondering why we didn’t suggest that amazing book everyone is talking about the reason is probably that the particular amazing, life-changing book you are thinking of is in our to-read pile with lots of other incredible books that we just haven’t gotten to yet. We love booaks, and we love audiobooks, although now that I’m not spending as much time in the car my consumption of audiobooks has dipped while my reading of eleactronic and physical books has increased.

Now to the list.

1.     The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien.

$22.50 For just over 55 hours of Tolkien? You bet. Elaina and I have both listened to the LOTR trilogy within the last few months. I even blogged about it here.

2.     The Armchair Theologians series by various authors.

3.     Your Future Self Will Thank You: Secrets to Self-Control from the Bible and Brain Science (A Guide for Sinners, Quitters, and Procrastinators) by Drew Dyck.
Drew endorsed You Got This, Dad (Did we mention that it is on sale right now too?) so we are all but contractually obligated to put this book on the list, but the truth is that I loved this book, will reread it, and am a little bit jealous that Drew wrote it instead of me.

4.     More than We Remember by Christina Suzann Nelson.
If you like fiction, this is a great book for you. Soooo good.

5.     Seven Days that Divide the World by John C. Lennox.

6.     Parenting Your Powerful Child & The Birth Order Book by Dr. Kevin Leman.
I’ll not say which child inspired me to listen to Parenting Your Powerful Child, but she’s four and likes fashion.

7.     A Hobbit, a Wardrobe, and a Great War by Joseph Laconte.

8.     The Read-Aloud Family: Making Meaningful and Lasting Connections with Your Kids by Sarah Mackenzie.
We absolutely love this book, and Sarah’s podcast, and really anything by Sarah Mackenzie.

9.     None Like Him by Jen Wilkin.

10.  Dream With Me: Race, Love, and the Struggle We Must Win by John M. Perkins

11.  All That's Good: Recovering the Lost Art of Discernment by Hannah Anderson.
Another book I wish I would have written. Man, people need to stop getting to my ideaas and writing them better than I would have.

12.  The Bronte Plot, Dear Mr. Knightley & Lizzie & Jane by Katherine Reay.
It isn’t always easy to write a book that is fun and interesting, but she pulls it off every time.

13.  Hardy Boys & Nancy Drew by various authors.

There it is, our baker’s dozen of books that are on sale right now at christianaudio.com. Of course, there are other books on sale too…
